Iheanacho fights Iwobi, Etebo for Glo CAF Awards

Arsenal's Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho Manchester City are in the running for various Glo CAF Awards. In the Most Promising Talent category Iheanacho is listed with fellow Nigerian Oghenekaro Etebo, Guinea Naby Keita, Elias Meshack the Democratic Republic of Congo and Soby of Egypt Ramadan. Oshoala won the award in 2014, alongside being named player of the year Youth. Cameroonian Gaelle Deborah Enganamouit was named player of the year 2015. Florence Omagbemi women, the only person to have won the Women African Nations Cup as captain and coach, contests for Coach of the Year with DR Congo Florent Ibengé, Uganda Coach Milutin Sredojević, Nacer Sanjak of CAF Confederation Cup winners MO Bejaia and Pitso Mosimane CAF Champions League Mamelodi Sundowns winners. Super Falcons of Nigeria will battle for the women's team of the year with Cameroon, Ghana, South Africa and Zimbabwe, while the U23 team of Nigeria, the bronze winners at the Olympics, will pull Democratic Republic of Congo (winners Chan) Senegal, Guinea Bissau and Uganda (the last two to qualify for the 2017 AFCON). Guinea-Bissau are making their debut, while Uganda are back among the elite of African football after 38 years.
