Sen. George Sekibo's Democratic Senate Democratic Party Senate candidate has been declared the winner of the seat of the East Rivers Senate District in the December 10 election.
Sekibo defeated his rival, Chief Andrew Uchendu of the All Progressive Congress, to claim the seat.
Senate district director Orji Onu Okumenkama said Sekibo voted 93,098 votes to defeat Uchendu, who scored 34,193 votes.
However, Sekibo's victory was followed by a protest by the APC leaders in the state, who said they would not accept the outcome.
Meanwhile, there was a concussion in the Local Government Secretariat in Port Harcourt before the outcome was announced, while security agents fired continuously into the air.
It was gathered that a PDP classification agent, Chinyere Igwe, who is the State Commissioner for Urban Development, was detained in the secretariat by the police. Rios re-runs
