Earwax: Truth
First, I want to expose the myth. Many people think ear wax, yellow and waxy substance that is produced in the ear canal, is a bad thing or a product. this is not true! Ear wax actually plays a number of very important roles: it protects the skin of the ear canal, and helps in cleaning and lubrication and provides protection from bacteria, fungi, insects and water.
How to clean your ears
Ear is actually a self-cleaning, and for most people the ear canals do not need to be cleaned. The best thing you can do for your ears is to not put anything in them that are smaller than your elbow. Wax is not formed in the deep part of the ear canal, but the outer part of the channel near the outer opening. If left alone, the old earwax migrates naturally from the ear as a result of the movement of the jaw. And the introduction of Q- tips, sharp or pointed instruments in the ear just push the wax further into the channel and even may cause a shock to the wall of the canal or eardrum. So let nature take its course, just use a towel or tissue to wipe the outer ear after a bath or shower.
Wax impaction
Ear wax becomes a source of concern at the occurrence of jam or full blockage of the ear canal. Symptoms can include impaction of any of the following actions:
- Sensation clog up or feeling of fullness in the ear
- Ear pain
- Changings in hearing sensitivity or hearing impairment
- Ringing in the ear
- Itching, odor or discharge
- Cough
If you experience any of these symptoms, see a doctor first. Ear wax is do not assume the culprit. If earwax is why, your doctor or hearing health care provider training can be deleted.
Prevent wax impaction
If you know your ears produce a lot of ear wax, and you have some wax build-up, in the following ways may prevent safely complete the jam from happening:
- Use wax softening agents: once in place a few drops of mineral oil week, baby oil or commercial ear drops (eg Debrox, mice) in the ear canal. This will help to soften ear wax and let it out more easily
- Rey ear: American Academy of Medicine Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery cites irrigation or ear syringing as a way to safely clean the ears and assistance in the clogging of ear wax build-ups. At home irrigation kits can be purchased at the drug store, but it is very important to follow the instructions when using these. For more than preventive maintenance, a simple and comfortable ear irrigation is when you're in the bathroom. Tilt your head toward the warm waters, allowing the ear to fill. Once is not true, tip your head and let the water and drying wax. Please note, using the softening agent wax before irrigation may yield better results. Warning: Avoid irrigation if you have a hole in the ear drum or tube in the eardrum. The preventive measure is another excellent set a date for removing the wax every 6-12 months with your doctor or hearing health care professional training.
Things that should never be done
There are a number of things you should never do to your ears.
- Do not stick anything in your ear smaller than your elbow.
- No ear candling. Ear candling, also called the arrival of the ear or thermal auricular therapy, is the practice of alternative medicine claimed to improve public health and well-being through one end of the candle lighting of the hollow and put the other end in the ear canal. Research shows that this procedure has not proven to remove ear wax benefit, they can cause serious injury in fact. Just steer clear of it! Ear wax and hearing
Hearing and ear wax does not play well together. If you wear a hearing, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Ear wax can clog the microphones or the reception of the hearing, which could affect performance and sound quality. It can reduce the effectiveness of hearing the sound through the prevention and even can cause damage enough to justify the reform. Some users notice an increase in the production of wax when it starts to wear hearing. This is not uncommon.
Hearing not only natural migration prevents ear wax from the ear but can also stimulate glands in the ear canal to produce more wax. It is extremely important to properly clean and care for your hearing, according to the instructions of an audiologist health care. Some tips at home, click here. If you are actively involved in the practices and protective ear wax, such as the use of agents soften wax or irrigation performance, do them at night before going to sleep after you have taken out your hearing. In the morning, make sure to wipe the outer ear with a towel or tissue to remove any wax that has migrated from before you put in your hearing

Have you ever water trapped in the ears after swimming? Most of us! Normal reaction to the expulsion of water is the head tilted to the side and shake it thoroughly or tug down on the ear lobe during the opening and closing of the jaw. Although the head of shaking and opening / closing the jaw may continue for some time, and it is often successful as evidenced by listening to pop music and the feeling of water drain from the ear. However, sometimes the water can not be free, due to bacterial and fungal organisms in the water, and outer ear infection known as swimmer's ear can occur.
