The Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) annual Christmas concert was held from Sunday, December 4 at Shell Nigeria Hall of MUSON Centre.
The Choir and Orchestra conducted by Sir Emeka Nwokedi, started the show with "joy fills the deepest heart today" with the audience participating in the singing. Other group songs included in dulci Jubilo, Keresimesi hears, Angels from the realms of glory, a solo - shepherds O happy to Michael Haydn sung by a soprano - Ifunanya Anekwe; .G.F. Handel "For a child is born to" rendered by the choir and orchestra and twelve days of Christmas.
At the break, they played with Babylon to Bethlehem, a musical written by Sir Emeka Nwokedi. Then a plot of the miserable life the Israelites lived in exile in Babylon, before a prophet appeared and warned them to really seek God with all your heart. The Israelites became remorse and turned to God singing Va Pensiero (chanting of Jewish slaves) drawn from Nabbuco Opera by Giuseppe Verdi. Another rendition "By the rivers of Babylon" made popular by Boney M. This was followed by "comfort my people, to speak with you to the heart of Jerusalem, that her warfare is accomplished", followed by "Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son. " Others were "Ave Maria" by Bach / Gounod. Like Mary, played by Victoria Ajimah she delivered her baby, there was a rendition of "O Holy Night". The surprise of the evening was an outstanding leadership award given to the Master Sir Emeka Nwokedi by the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) Choir in recognition of his immense contribution to the development of individual talent and the overall development of choral music in Nigeria.
